Careers in Golf

J Felton - 18/10/2024 - Notice

Careers in Golf
Several Y11 & Y12 students were hosted by England Golf and Woodhall Spa Golf Club (WSGC) with a focus on careers in golf. The morning was spent in workshops brilliantly presented by Jack Cole from the DP World Tour. Our students learned about the numerous opportunities in golf; some they were aware of and some they definitely were not! The morning session culminated in a project which entailed organising an event sponsored by British Airways with a budget of £7,000,000! The students had to think about sponsors, players, spectators, sustainability, media, marketing, merchandise, catering, hospitality, compliance, finance and much much more. After a hearty lunch we then got out and about to meet several staff from WSGC and look at three main areas - the driving range and state of the art fitting centre, England Golf's headquarters and the numerous teams that work there and finally green keeping/agronomy.
Thanks to Alex Nightingale and his team for organising a really interesting and informative day.

Autumn Concert

J Medler - 18/10/2024 - Notice

Report by Charlotte Toogood (Music Captain for Strings) and Ryan Dawson (Music Captain for Keys):

Last night the soloist concert took place. It was an amazing night with a variety of talents from strings, piano, brass, woodwind and voice. All of the students performed with confidence and showed great professionalism, as did Jack in sound and light. The audience we had was supportive of all the students, and not to mention families proud to see what they had achieved. Everyone who performed in the concert should be very proud of themselves and we hope to see them all perform in more opportunities we have to come.

Design a Science Waistcoat competition
In collaboration with the World Snooker Tour and Johnstone's Paint, we're offering young people, between the ages of 11 and 14, an exciting opportunity to design a waistcoat that will be worn by a top snooker player during the Johnstone's Paint Masters at Alexandra Palace. The winning design will be showcased live on the BBC in January 2025.
The Science Waistcoat Design Competition invites young people to create a waistcoat and share their scientific inspiration behind the design. They could draw or paint the design on the template.
The closing date is 4 pm 7 November 2024.
Download a template on link below: Or see Miss Brady in Science and she can get you one.
The winning design will be made into a waistcoat which will be worn during the Johnstone’s Paint Masters at Alexandra Palace. The winner will also be interviewed by national and local media covering the competition, to discuss the science inspiration behind their design.
Entries are welcomed from all educational settings in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, including home-educated children. A child can only be entered into the competition once. All entries should use PPG’s colour of the year, Acai Berry – which can be found on the design template.

U13 Football. QEGS 2 - 5 JSTC

J Felton - 17/10/2024 - Notice

The U13 team hosted a very strong JSTC team on Wednesday 16 October. The first exchanges were very close but JSTC just managed to nose ahead. However, the U13s battled valiantly and got one back thanks to a debut goal by Jacob Smith. The second half was a much closer affair with one further goal from each team. James Fairburn took the ball wide on the left and attacked with purpose, scoring a very impressive goal. The team fought hard and played some great football at times. Well done.

Scorers
Jacob Smith – 1
James Fairburn – 1

Player of the match
Oliver Kirk

Our next game is at home to Skegness Grammar Wednesday 6 November

U15 Football

N Stone - 16/10/2024 - Notice

On Wednesday afternoon the year 10 football team hosted JSTC in the penultimate round of the league fixtures. The U15 team played some excellent football, keeping possession and making smooth and accurate transitions through the midfield creating many attacking opportunities. The matched finished 5-1 with the pick of the goals coming from Hayden Bushnell who curled the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box. Hayden was awarded player of the match for his excellent goal and efforts in central midfield. Other top performances came from Joshua Perrin at right wing back, Leon Robbens at left wing back and Harry Armstrong in central defence. Well done also to Thomas Clark who made his school football debut!

Well done to the whole team on what was a very good game played in an excellent spirit by both sides.
