U15 Football

N Stone - Today - Notice

On Wednesday afternoon the year 10 football team hosted JSTC in the penultimate round of the league fixtures. The U15 team played some excellent football, keeping possession and making smooth and accurate transitions through the midfield creating many attacking opportunities. The matched finished 5-1 with the pick of the goals coming from Hayden Bushnell who curled the ball into the top corner from the edge of the box. Hayden was awarded player of the match for his excellent goal and efforts in central midfield. Other top performances came from Joshua Perrin at right wing back, Leon Robbens at left wing back and Harry Armstrong in central defence. Well done also to Thomas Clark who made his school football debut!

Well done to the whole team on what was a very good game played in an excellent spirit by both sides.

6th Form Netball Team

L Shoubridge - 14/10/2024 - Notice

Congratulations to the 6th Form Netball team who have progressed to the County Netball finals after completing last Wednesday. This was the first time the team had played together, and they should be incredible proud of themselves.

QEGS v Skegness Academy: 6-4 win to QEGS

The strong sixth form netball team persevered throughout this game, with Ellie scoring an exceptional number of goals. Amazing Ella, in the goal shooter position, was there to support Ellie even though she had a tantrum (or two) when she was shooting. This was the first competitive game Lily had played at school and she did really well, although she managed to be offside several times. Annie and Lucy’s tight marking really aided the team, keeping the possession predominantly within the oppositions side of the court.

QEGS v Skegness Grammar: 8-8 draw

We had many attempts at shooting during the first half, but the SGS defence was strong. Despite this all, the girls carried on moving the ball up the court. Grace’s defending was exemplary and was able to knock their shots and passes out of the way every time, leaving them stunned with her agility and power. Elvie was excellent in intercepting their swift passes, returning possession to our team. Ruby kept her marking strong following her player around the court. Towards the end we were behind on goals, but Annie scored an amazing goal, confidently stepping forward to gain some extra ground. And then again shooting successfully 30 seconds later, ending in an equal draw.

U13 Football Match Report. QEGS 1 - 4 QEGS, Horncastle

J Felton - 10/10/2024 - Notice

The U13's faced tough opposition in QEGS, Horncastle but held their own throughout the first half which ended 1-1. We created lots of opportunities in the second half but couldn't quite convert them, which ultimately cost us. The team continues to make progress and we can look forward to the game against JSTC at home on Wednesday 16 October with confidence

U15 Football

N Stone - 10/10/2024 - Notice

The year 10 football team secured their second win of the week in the U15 league due to a superb performance against a strong QEGS Horncastle side. The match started evenly however the home side grabbed the lead after an excellent counter attack. Horncastle wrestled their way back into the game and due to some momentary lapses in concentration from the home team they conceded two goals just before half time. After some ‘constructive feedback’ at half time the year 10 team dominated the second half. Scoring four goals in relatively quick succession to take the game away from Horncastle. Three more points means the team move to second in the table just behind Banovallum.

Top performers: Hayden Bushnell played the first half in goal but then provided superb energy in central midfield in the second half. Ronnie Collingwood defended superbly throughout the match and marshalled his defence well. Ronnie’s defensive partner Harry Armstrong also had an excellent game who’s one-v-one defensive attributes helped nullify Horncastle’s strongest attacking players. Lastly strike partners Jack Beevers and Thomas Hewitt provided energy and quality finishing up front.

Player of the match: Thomas Jeffery’s energy in midfield and quality on the ball was exceptional throughout the match. His ability to beat his man and then create space for others was one of the key reasons for the team’s success.

Well done to the whole squad.
